We’re really excited about the project launching and getting such an incredible reception. Thank you for your support! It’s been great to see everybody’s enthusiasm for FlippyDrive and we’re excited to keep working on some finishing touches over the next couple of weeks.
Software
We’ve been making huge strides on the software and I wanted to update you guys on some of the upcoming features in the 1.1.0 firmware update coming this week:
- Folders are now supported in cubeboot
- We have increased the amount of files listed in one folder from 500 to 2000
- We have switched to using the Official Swiss release instead of our fork
- Bluetooth support is still in the works!
We are really excited about the Bluetooth controller support because it works without the use of a BlueRetro or any additional mods. You simply enable the option and pair your favorite wireless controller with the FlippyDrive! This feature should be available in the next major firmware update.
Early Bird FlippyDrives
As you may already know, the first standard 1000 FlippyDrive units are set to be delivered roughly around November. We are preparing them by installing the latest software and packing them into individual boxes.
Once they are all packed up we will send them to the Mouser warehouse for distribution. We should have them all programmed, packed and shipped in the next few weeks. It’s pretty labor intensive, but it is well worth it.
Production Schedule
Due to the overwhelming demand on launch day, some backers were given incorrect ship dates for their FlippyDrive after they were ordered. Be sure to check your order this week to get a better idea of when yours might ship.
In case you’re new to crowdfunding, be aware that just because your card was charged does not mean your FlippyDrive is shipping soon—making a pledge during a project’s crowdfunding campaign means you are prepaying.

We anticipate production of the second and third batch of FlippyDrive will start in October after our campaign ends and we are able to purchase the parts required.
