We’ve had the displays in stock for quite for quite some time, and I’ve been waiting on these speakers. They’ve been on a slow boat from China for about a month, and they’ve just turned up!
This means we now have all the third party components in stock.
The PCBs are also coming along nicely - they are now fully assembled and PCB Way are doing some basic QA on them - checking that they power on and the ESP32 shows up as a USB device.
One of the things that I really like about PCB Way is that they take the assembly very seriously - double checking the orientation of parts before they do the full run.
There’s nothing worse than getting a bunch of boards delivered and then realising that you’ve got the diodes all the wrong way round (an easy mistake to make!).
And just in case we want more proof that things are working, here’s a couple of LEDs lit up - one of them shows that we’re getting 5v from the USB and the other shows that the 3v3 regulator is working nicely.
And here we can see our ESP32 showing up in the windows device tree.
With a quick ChatGPT translation.
Our ESP32 is alive!
PCBWay will be testing all our boards and fixing any issues. We’ll be doing the final assembley and testing of the speakers and displays here.
I’ve got a quick 1 week holiday now and I’m hoping while I’m away the boards will ship.
We’ll need time to receive the boards, do final assembly and QA, get the boards shipped to Mouser US and then get the boards out to you. So I think to be safe and set correct expectations we’re going to push the delivery date to mid-June. I don’t like doing this, but I also don’t want anyone to be dissappointed.
