We’ve been hard at work over the last few weeks and have lots of exciting news!
Over the last 2-3 weeks, batch 1 was delivered to the first round of backers, several weeks ahead of schedule. We did identify a factory programming issue affecting 3-4% of the flippydrives with affected users given a replacement, and we now have better coverage to ensure it doesn’t happen going forward. Overall though, things went very well with better than expected defect rates for a first batch.
Since the campaign closed, we’ve been busy securing components and placing orders for batch 2 and beyond. We’re happy to report that we’ve secured all our long lead electrical components, with only one straggler now on the way to the assembler. The 3d printed parts like the mounting frame have been in production and are expected to ship to us in about a week.
We’re doing final fit checks and function testing of the custom rear IO panel used for the Deluxe kit/Ethernet boards, which we expect to be complete in about 1-2 weeks. Once that is done, the injection molder will cut the production molds and we can begin mass production of the IO plate.
Overall we’re about 1-2 weeks ahead of schedule on the electronics and right on schedule for the Deluxe kit plastic components.
