We wanted to share more about the sustainable journey of creating the Inkplate 4 TEMPERA. This device is not just a marvel of technology; it’s a testament to our commitment to sustainability and innovation. The screens used in Inkplate 4 TEMPERA are sourced from old, non-functional e-paper devices. Sometimes it’s an e-book reader and sometimes it’s an store shelf digital label. These screens are carefully removed, cleaned, and retested to ensure they meet our quality standards before they find a new home in your Inkplate device.

Sustainable Procurement and Quality Assurance

Our approach to sustainability goes beyond just reusing screens. We actively purchase these screens from recycling companies and build our products around them. This process allows us to contribute to reducing e-waste and promote the circular economy. However, sustainability does not mean compromising on quality. Screens with significant scratches and those that do not meet our image quality standards are not used in the production of Inkplate 4 TEMPERA. It’s pretty much expected that the ratio of those screens won’t work either - those are recycled again, but this time not into a working electronics piece. We ensure that every device you receive is in top-notch condition, offering you the best possible user experience.

Limited Availability – A Unique Piece of Technology

The sustainable approach to building Inkplate 4 TEMPERA does come with its unique set of challenges, one of them being the limited availability of the screens. Once the existing stock of these recycled screens is used, there won’t be any more available, making each Inkplate 4 TEMPERA a unique piece of sustainable technology.
