Releasing OpenView 2 and Introducing HealthyPi Move

by Ashwin Whitchurch

We are excited to announce the release of the new OpenView 2 app for the HealthyPi 5. OpenView 2 is a complete rewrite of our previous OpenView app and has a number of new performance improvements over the previous version. OpenView 2 is a unified app that can be used to interface with all the HealthyPi series of boards including the upcoming HealthyPi Move.

OpenView2 Desktop
OpenView2 Mobile

Thanks to the powerful new Flutter 3, OpenView 2 is now available on all platforms including Android, iOS, Windows, Mac and Linux. This allowed us to combine both our HealthyPi Mobile apps as well as the Desktop Processing GUI into one unified codebase. On desktop platforms, OpenView 2 uses the serial port for communication. On mobile platforms, OpenView 2 uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for communication with the HealthyPi 5. The app works with all the HealthyPi series, including the HealthyPi 5 and the upcoming HealthyPi Move, in addition to other Protocentral boards.

Download the Openview app from the Google Play store for Android and from the Apple App Store for iOS. For the desktop versions of the app, you can download them from the OpenView 2 releases page.

OpenView 2 is open-source and the source code is available on the OpenView 2 GitHub repository. We welcome contributions from the community to improve the app and add new features. The app is still in beta and we are working on adding more features and improvements. We would love to hear your feedback and suggestions on how we can improve the app further. Please feel free to open an issue on the GitHub repository.

Introducing the HealthyPi Move

HealthyPi Move

We are also excited to announce a new product in the HealthyPi series - the HealthyPi Move.

HealthyPi Move will have all the same great features as the HealthyPi 5, but in a wearable form factor. We see this as being complimentary to the HealthyPi 5, and we are excited to see what the community will do with this new form factor. The HealthyPi Move is currently in in the funding stage on Crowd Supply and we would appreciate your support in bringing this product to market. You can find more information about the HealthyPi Move on the Crowd Supply campaign page.

We are working on integrating the HealthyPi Move codebase (which is also based on the Zephyr platform) with the HealthyPi 5 codebase. This will allow users to have a seamless transition if they are currently using the HealthyPi 5 and want to move to a wearable form factor. We will be releasing more information on this in the coming weeks.

We are excited about the future of the HealthyPi series and we are committed to providing the best tools for health monitoring and research. We would love to hear your feedback and suggestions on how we can improve this further.
