The XFR (“transfer”) is a minimal pack for your mobile life, transferring you between the office, gym, park, and concert. This is the one carry solution that fits all of your varied contexts.
Replace your gym bag, laptop case, and backpack with the XFR.
The XFR is a messenger, a shoulder bag, a backpack, a tote bag, and a bike bag.
It expands. It collapses. It keeps your stuff dry.
It moves you from workout to workday to rad weekends.
It even fits the most popular bike share systems.
A simple, comfortable, and accessible carry solution. Clip the adjustable straps into harness points at the top and bottom of the body, and the XFR is a backpack. Adjust shoulder spacing by threading the straps through one of the upper handles.
Clip one of the included adjustable straps into harness points at opposite top and bottom corners of the body and the XFR is a messenger.
Clip straps into harness points on opposite corners of the top opening to create a perfectly balanced shoulder bag.
This is the classic brown paper grocery bag reimagined to be super strong, stylish, and comfortable. The two builtin handles at the top of the XFR are made of the same material used in seat belts and won’t cut into your hands even under heavy load.
The builtin sleeve on the outside of the XFR means you’re always ready to grab and go – just hop on a bike share in any of the growing list of cities that use standard bike share equipment, including SF, CHI, NYC, BOS, MSP, LON, MON, DC, TOR, MEL and SEA. The XFR has been proportioned to perfectly fit the L-shape of the bike share front rack. The front panel of the XFR is an inverted pocket which slots the bag neatly over the front rack.
Expandable: Pull up the internal cinchable skirt to expand the XFR from 22 Liters to 32(!) Liters. Go ahead, put ALL your groceries in, just put the eggs, bananas, and leafy greens at the top.
Collapsible: The XFR folds flat to 7.5” x 13” x 1.25” about the size of a folded t-shirt. Tuck it into another bag or a desk drawer when it’s not needed.
Configurable: The XFR converts to a tote bag, backpack, cross-body (messenger) bag, shoulder bag, and bike bag. Just snap the Gatekeeper Tensionlock clips into the webbing loops and you are good to go.
Water Resistant: Cinch the internal skirt closed once everything is loaded no soggy baguettes. The skirt is a PU coated waterproof 60D nylon. The external 600D double sided tarpaulin is a triple pass, HARDCORE material it’s the same stuff that’s used to make inflatable boats.
Nigh Indestructible: The XFR is made from ultra-tough material, which is sewn together with bound internal seams, and is reinforced in all the right spots. It would make The Tick proud.
Structured: Stands up for easy loading. Just plop it down. The XFR stands on it’s own with no fuss.
Easy Access Org Pocket: Got some small items that you don’t want to get lost in the main compartment? Zip them into place right at the top.
Iconic: The XFR packs a ton of functionality into a crisp silhouette. The ultra-minimal aesthetic that works just as well in a client meeting as it does on a day at the beach.

Go ahead cram in as much as you’re willing to haul. The XFR is carefully constructed from the highest grade 600D double-sided non-PVC tarpaulin. The clean corners are formed from prayer seams with bound internal edges for a sleek, strong design. This rock solid construction yields a crisp silhouette and the ability to stand open for easy loading. The bound seams are also near indestructible. The bottom of the bag is dual-layered for extra stiffness and durability. The handles are high-quality 4-bar nylon webbing that are both stitched and bar-tacked to the chassis. The webbing is soft to the touch and strong enough to tow your car. The handles feel great even under load.
Quietly tucked next to handles are small loops to clip in additional straps. With just 2 clips, the tote becomes a messenger or shoulder bag. With four clips, the tote is a backpack. Oh, and we’ve minimized our branding. All printing is tone on tone and is confined to the bottom of the bag, keeping the facades clean and uncluttered.
We have a fascination with the invisible workhorse products that quietly enable the easy life. Paper clips, aspirin, claw hammers, perfectly mixed margaritas, and clothes hangers are evidence of hidden genius. So is the humble, brown, paper, grocery bag. The XFR is inspired by the utilitarian grocery sack. We started with the iconic clean lines and uninterrupted surfaces of that humble archetype. From that beginning we sourced the highest grade performance materials, tuned proportions, and upgraded construction. The result is something which transcends the category of tote and becomes simply the ideal carry solution.
We started with a strong bag paradigm and use case. We focused our design efforts with the goal of creating a hyper-functional and ultra-durable carry solution. We perfected proportions, upgraded materials and added features. We worked hard to maintain clean lines and surfaces and minimize interruptions. Utilitarian features are tucked out of sight but ready when needed. Without close examination, you might not notice the double reinforced bottom panel, or the interior bound seams, hidden zipper pocket, or internal cinch-able skirt. These are our invisible workhorses which are designed to pay dividend over a lifetime of use. We added function where it was sensible and restrained ourselves from bells and whistles. What was a simple single-purpose shopping bag is now a solution for an entire lifestyle.
