Hi MNT backers and supporters,
We are back with good news: All crowdfunded Pocket Reforms have been shipped to Crowd Supply as of today! Thank you again for backing our Crowd Supply campaign and we hope you enjoy your new gear.
We assemble all of our devices in our studio in Berlin, and quality assurance is vital to us when shipping out devices. We test every device to make sure it is functional and ready to use.
Unfortunately, a lot of keyboards were defective. We weren’t able to find the root cause of this issue yet, but we think there’s a high probability that the chips were damaged during PCB assembly. Andrew Zonenberg was so kind to decap some of the defective chips for us and take a closer look, but didn’t find anything visibly wrong. Liaizon desoldered a lot of them and in doing so repaired all of the keyboards.
Greta, Anri, and Tina the Dog behind the scenes:
At the time of the campaign, we had only one CPU module available for MNT Pocket Reform: i.MX8M Plus. Lukas has since been developing new adapters for other CPU modules to make them compatible with Pocket Reform. One of them — A311D (Banana Pi) — is now available as an upgrade on Crowd Supply.
Many people have started using Pocket Reform and have posted about their experience in the MNT Community forum.
One of our users, Andy Piper, has published a very detailed review about his first impressions of MNT Pocket Reform.
We are now starting to assemble and pack the remaining 112 post-campaign orders. (Thank you!) We will make 3-4 shipments in total, so it will still take some time until all of the devices are delivered. We estimate a period of 4-8 weeks.
We hope you have a nice summer!
