New fabs & build schedule

Ho ho ho snickerdoodlers!

Here’s the latest (short form):

It turns out Santa left us with a big, fat sack of coal this year – namely in the form of 500 rejected fabs…

Per the last update, we were hoping the 500 onshore fabs we ordered last month were going to be in assembly this week. That didn’t happen. While the PCBs we received technically passed QC/electrical test, the solder mask was visibly “bad” with inconsistencies in the finish, gaps between the pads/balls, etc. Anyway, those were scrapped.

New fabs (ordered early this week from a trusted local vendor) are “in process” and are due at the CM on Wednesday (12/28). As a result, we are expecting first articles the first week of January, with the rest to follow immediately thereafter. So yet another two weeks with no snickerdoodles…but we’re getting there.

[cookieJar customers: in case you missed last week’s update, we’ve upgraded the enclosure from injection molded plastic to anodized billet aluminum. Please check it out and let us know ASAP if you would like to be upgraded.]

That’s all for now – short and sweet. Merry Christmas and happy holidays, everybody! We’re very much looking forward to 2017. 2016 has been a rough one…

Sincerely,

the krtkl crew
