We are an up-and-coming film production company devoted to making films that are creative, unique and visually exciting. Rather than wait for Hollywood to tell the stories we want to tell, we get out there and tell them ourselves.
The 48 Hour Film Project is a two-day intensive film competition that comes to Portland on the weekend of August 5th. Filmmakers from all over the Portland area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up against films from around the world.
This is the first time our team has collectively tried our hand at the 48 Hour Film Project and we are excited to show our work to the Portland film community and to the film-viewing world.
We need money for lights, cameras, and food! Making movies isn’t easy or cheap. In order to acquire the resources to tell the right story, we will need to rent equipment from local rental houses to bring our vision to life. Not only does this help us bring our film to fruition but it also helps to support local equipment vendors in the Portland area. In addition to renting equipment, we also need to provide food for our hard-working crew, all 20+ of whom are working on the project pro-bono!
The remaining $100 will be spent on you! this will cover the costs of the premiums listed below.

Our team is comprised of local Portland filmmakers Jeremy Cropf, Corey Drayton, Megan Garbayo, Sarah Lombardi, and Dave Schrenk. We have been working together as freelance filmmakers for over a year, working on a variety of different video projects for companies like Crowd Supply, Intel, Creative Cares, and The Clymb. As our team took on more and more projects, we decided to form our own company built around our creative goals as filmmakers.
Combining orchestral textures, haunting vocals, experimental sounds, and an astonishing dynamic range, Bent Knee has been reviewed as "dark, mysterious… and dare I say beautiful? (Olive Music)." Their songs morph rapidly and unpredictably from fragile passages to walls of sound with "a shrieking and wailing banshee, stadium-sized guitar heroics, and pounding rhythmic tides (Ryan’s Smashing Life)."
Since its inception in 2010, Bent Knee has been earning high praises from both fans and critics alike. The band has been named a winner of the 2013 Indie International Songwriting Contest, nominee for Deli Magazine’s New England Artist of the Month; and their music has been chosen for Best Albums of 2011 for Ryan’s Smashing Life and Olive Music, and Cover Me’s 50 Best Cover Songs of 2011.
They have performed live scores to multiple films as part of the Organ Grinder Silent Film Live Score series hosted by Portland’s Hollywood Theatre. Films they have performed to include Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and Un Chien Andelou.
