RTK Rover is a low-power, user-friendly dev kit that allows you to add centimeter-accurate positioning to your designs. With this kit, you can build a standalone RTK receiver similar to those used by professional surveyors. The Mini PCIe module includes a dual-band LC29H GNSS module from Quectel, and the onboard inertial measurement unit (IMU) tracks position through dead reckoning when GNSS is lost.
RTK Rover provides 1 centimeter accuracy and performance comparable to $20K geodetic-grade survey equipment, but at a 99% discount!
The small, magnetic-mount, dual-band antennas offer excellent signal reception on cars, robots, drones, or backpacks. By connecting to the Internet-based GEODNET network, you can receive a GNSS correction stream that improves your fixed RTK accuracy to within a few centimeters in just a few seconds. The EmbedCM RTK Evaluation Kit supports standard NMEA output messages and includes an open-source decoder and logger written in Node.js.
We also provide a second Raspberry Pi HAT that offers a USB Type-C interface, event interface, odometer connection, and plug-and-play connectivity to a Raspberry Pi 4B. With our sturdy metal enclosure, you can build your own professional-grade, high-accuracy GNSS receiver with support for Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and USB connectivity, a product that would normally cost thousands of dollars!
USB-C or Ethernet, the choice is yours to select a USB or a more powerful Ethernet Pi 4B-based device to take your project to the next level. Both versions come with built-in trial account access, providing centimeter-accurate precision to the world’s largest decentralized GNSS reference network, GEODNET.
Introduced at the Institute of Navigation 2021 GNSS Conference, the Global Earth Observation Decentralized Network (GEODNET) received a "best presentation award" and has rapidly grown since our official launch in early 2022. With over 3000 reference stations online on every major continent, GEODNET is the world’s largest decentralized, real-time geospatial reference network. Check out the live reference station map at https://console.geodnet.com/map. RTK Rover is compatible with other network options; however, the cost may be up to 10 times higher compared to GEODNET (free trial available for GEODNET).

We plan to add more software capabilities, especially for the Raspberry Pi version, and will share more features as they are tested. Additionally, we will create and share demo videos showcasing the Rover in various use cases, including vehicle testing, package/item tracking, and different robot applications. We welcome content and ideas from users.
Our RTK Rover devices will be manufactured by HYFIX’s long-term trusted manufacturing partner. The core GNSS module used is based on the Quectel LC29H module. We have already fabricated the first batch of units, and final testing and firmware loading will occur once we’ve received the units from the factory. All boards will undergo 100% testing before being shipped to backers.
Our manufacturing partner is also creating the custom metal housing. Both faceplates of the metal housing will be plastic to prevent overheating. We have received prototypes and validated their proper fit and thermal properties, which fully meet our requirements. We have designed HYFIX branded packaging that offers protective layers for shipment.
Teaming up with Crowd Supply allows us to utilize the global logistics capabilities of Mouser Electronics, Crowd Supply’s fulfillment partner. Once HYFIX EVK Rover kits leave the factory, Mouser will ensure they are fully tested and shipped directly to your doorstep. You can learn more about Crowd Supply’s fulfillment service in their Ordering, Paying, and Shipping guide.
The most significant risk lies in the supply chain, primarily due to potential component shortages and resulting delays. While such problems are sometimes unavoidable, our extensive experience in producing GNSS devices has enabled us to decrease the probability of encountering such issues and minimize their impact. However, we remain committed to transparency and will provide updates on our manufacturing progress.
Another challenge we face is sourcing the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 in bulk, as it has been particularly hard to find. Although we have sourced stock from previous projects and will be able to fulfill a good number of Raspberry Pi Rover kits (Ethernet), those who already have a Raspberry Pi Module may find it quicker to purchase the USB Rover and install the Raspberry Pi Module themselves. Our products will have listed shipping timelines to reflect all estimated ship dates.
