Thank You & Upgraded Enclosure

Dear Crowd Supply backers,

First, we wanted to take a moment to thank every one of you for supporting our dream. Your support and backing are making Hackboard 2 a reality and we are grateful!

Looking forward, based on your feedback, we are exploring a change to the GPIO pins to a larger version so that the most common HATs on the market would work with Hackboard 2 without an adapter. We’re currently evaluating the idea to see if the physical layout of the board will accommodate the change. We will keep you posted on our progress.

Next, a number of you have shared some great ideas regarding the design of the Hackboard 2 official case. We’ve come up with an innovative design improvement, making the case half plastic and half metal. As a result, the entire top of the case will double as a heatsink for the board, making the need for a fan obsolete. The new case design looks beautiful. Because this change has increased our cost for the case, it will retail for $15. Those of you who ordered a kit or a standalone case will receive the upgraded case at no additional charge. If you were lucky enough to get your case before now, you got a great deal!

Here is some documentation of the design tooling of the case for your viewing pleasure:

We will continue to update you as we move forward.

Thank you!
The Hackboard Team
