DeepRad on the Go: Unleash Your Android's SDR Potential!

Hello DeepRad Enthusiasts!

Before we go on to the update, we wanted to share a decision we’ve made in consultation to Crowd Supply. We decided to lower our funding goal. This will enable us to provide all the units in a timely manner, so thanks for your support and you will receive your units as scheduled!

Meanwhile, we’re excited to share a comprehensive guide on how to use your DeepRad with Android devices, opening up a world of mobile SDR possibilities. Whether you’re a seasoned radio enthusiast or just starting your SDR journey, this guide will help you take your DeepRad experience on the road!

️ What You’ll Need

  1. Hardware:

    • Your DeepRad single
    • A USB-C cable
    • An appropriate antenna for your desired signals
  2. Software:

    • The SDR Touch app (available on Google Play Store). There are also plenty of other applications with different uses to explore, like ADS-B Radio, MagicSDR, or even SDR++ that can run on your Android phone.
    • The RTL-SDR driver app

Setting Up Your Mobile SDR Station

Step 1: Hardware Setup

  1. Connect your DeepRad to your Android device using the USB-C cable.
  2. Attach your antenna to the DeepRad.

Step 2: Software Installation

  1. Install the SDR Touch app from the Google Play Store.
  2. Install the RTL-SDR driver app (SDR Touch will usually prompt you to do this).

Step 3: Configuration and Usage

  1. Open SDR Touch and grant the necessary USB permissions.
  2. Adjust frequency, modulation mode, bandwidth, and other parameters to your liking.
  3. Start exploring the airwaves!
