Get the Party Started And Troubleshooting

by Jesse Robinson, Kaushlesh C, Mark J. Hughes

Dear Boondock Echo Community,

All Boondock Echo devices (campaign, and post-campaign sales) have been fulfilled! That’s right, if you don’t already have it, it will show up any day now!

Buy a Boondock Echo

If you want to purchase your first Boondock Echo, or want several, consider purchasing now before the backstock is sold out. There are only a few dozen left in this production run. Once the devices sell out, it will take a us a couple of months to restock Mouser’s supply.

Getting Started

Please create an account at www.boondockecho.com, and join our Discord server.

Also, dig through your junk drawer and pull out a micro-USB cable to power/debug the device (in case something goes wrong, the port closest to the SD card allows serial debugging).

Inside your Boondock Echo shipping box, you’ll find a QR code that links to www.boondockecho.com/welcome, where you’ll get a quick overview of the device. Setting it up is easy! Just power it on and connect to its wireless hotspot using your smartphone, tablet, or computer. The Boondock Echo will guide you step-by-step through the setup process using audible prompts.

Getting Started Video

Some of our users are reporting that their devices do not complete all prompts, or that they freeze when an incorrect password is given. In that case, please see the Device Recovery video below.

Goober #1

Hey there, just a heads-up about your Boondock Echo box. You might have noticed a little switch at the bottom of your device. If it’s in the ‘down’ position, it’s perfect for connecting to speaker-output devices like amateur radios and scanners. But if it’s in the ‘up’ position, it’s better for ‘line out’ devices like scanners. It seems these boxes were shipped with the switch in the ‘up’ position, but for most uses, you’ll want it in the ‘down’ position. Happy tuning!

The Bring Up Sessions

To assist our users in getting their devices online, we’ve scheduled three bring-up sessions this week, and will likely do two more next week. The next session is on Saturday at 4 p.m. Pacific
YouTube LiveStream.

Please check Discord Announcements each week for additional scheduled sessions.

Unboxing Sessions

We would love to share in your joy and excitement as you open your device and use it for the first time! If you record your "haul" and share the video with us (1080i minimum resolution, 4 k preferred), and, if we use it in a promotional video, we’ll give you an additional free month of the highest tier of service!
