You'll be notified about news and stock updates for this project.

ANAVI Infrared pHAT is an open source hardware add-on board that converts your Raspberry Pi into a smart remote control that can bring your old consumer electronic devices, like air conditioning, TV, set top boxes and Hi-Fi systems to the Internet of Things (IoT) era.

Getting started is easy. No soldering is required. Just attach ANAVI Infrared pHAT to a Raspberry Pi with your bare hands and follow the exact steps from the comprehensive user’s manual. Furthermore, for interactivity and programmability, ANAVI Infrared pHAT supports sensor modules for temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and light. Free and open source examples of applications written in Python and the C programming language are available at GitHub.

In May 2017, the first version of ANAVI Infrared pHAT was successfully crowdfunded and all orders were shipped ahead of schedule. All additional boards were quickly sold out. Due to the high demand, we need your help again to make another batch. Together we can reduce the manufacturing costs and cut the end product price. Every contribution has an impact and makes a difference. Please help us make more open source hardware boards for you!

Who Needs It and Why?

ANAVI Infrared pHAT is easy to use. It is appropriate for developers, makers, engineers, hobbyists, students and anyone else interested in Internet of Things (IoT) and low cost, do it yourself (DIY) home automation.

ANAVI Infrared pHAT is useful to any Raspberry Pi owner interested in:

Features & Specifications

Compatibility:

ANAVI Infrared pHAT works with Raspberry Pi 3, Raspberry Pi 2, Raspberry Pi A+, Raspberry Pi B+, Raspberry Pi 0, and Raspberry Pi 0 W.

ANAVI Infrared pHAT officially supports the following I2C modules with:

You may also attach any other I2C sensors, but you will have to take care of their software integration.

What’s New?

The first batch of ANAVI Infrared pHAT boards was successfully crowdfunded in May 2017. All orders were fulfilled two months ahead of schedule and all other boards were quickly sold out. Due to the high demand, we need your help to make another batch of boards and to keep the price as low as possible. In addition, ANAVI Infrared pHAT now comes with even better documentation, updated software support for Raspbian Stretch, and more example applications.

Manufacturing Plan

Leon Anavi created ANAVI Infrared pHAT as a hobby project in his spare time. The boards are designed, manufactured, assembled and tested in his hometown Plovdiv, Bulgaria, EU.

To ensure consistently high quality, ANAVI Infrared pHAT has a green solder mask and a gold surface finish. All PCBs for ANAVI Infrared pHAT will be manufactured at once in a local factory in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. After that, the resistors, transistors, and capacitors will be assembled on the PCBs using surface-mount technology (SMT). The next and most time consuming step is the through-hole technology (THT) for hand-soldering of components. Finally, all boards and sensor modules will be carefully tested, packaged and shipped.

Shipping & Fulfillment

This crowdfunding campaign offers ANAVI Infrared pHAT with free worldwide shipping via the registered airmail service of the Bulgarian Posts. Your pledge will be packaged in an individual cardboard box and padded envelope for extra safety during shipping. A tracking number will be provided as soon as the order has been shipped.

Risks & Challenges

ANAVI Infrared pHAT is a stable, open source hardware product. All orders from the previous crowdfundting campaign were shipped ahead of schedule. Although this significantly reduces any risks, still mass production depends on factories and suppliers. Availability of parts can always be an issue. In order to provide ANAVI Infrared pHAT at the best price we are working with the reliable suppliers and a trusted local factory. All estimated shipping dates have been carefully planed to reduce any risks.

Thanks to good planning all orders from the previous ANAVI Infrared pHAT crowdfunding campaign were completed two months ahead of schedule. We are confident that we can again arrange successful mass production on time. However, any delays will be communicated with backers promptly through regular updates.
