Sorry for the delays. We are done with 170 3D Prints, so the final steps are loading code and assembling a 3D Printed enclosure with each Fingerprint sensor. As soon as we're done with that, we will ship the product ASAP. Read the full update.
Good news is we finally got ahold of NFC IC. There were many delays in receiving the part due to components shortages. Because of this, all the production problems have been resolved, since we have everything we purchased. In this update we also announce NFC support for ESPHome. Read the full update.
Hi backers, sorry for the delay in updates. Due to Lunar New Year closures in China and the Indian third wave of the pandemic, we couldn't move ahead with production for some time. Fortunately, we have now received the BM-LITE modules from factory and Chhavi PCBs have been fabricated. Read the full update.
As previously announced, we've replaced Chhavi's USB Micro B connector with a USB Type-C connector. We've been testing a prototype, and can now confirm that it's fully functional! We are very happy that backers have been taking an active interest in Chhavi. Please continue to reach out if you have questions or suggestions! Read the full update.
We have an important piece of news to announce! We initially set our funding goal at $20k because the corresponding MoQ gave us the opportunity to buy some very high-quality fingerprint sensors at a very good price. With the $7,500 we've raised so far, we won't be able to take advantage of that particular deal, but we can still afford enough of those sensors (and everything else we need) for a production run that will cover all crowdfunding orders and leave plenty of stock left over for post-campaign sales. So, in consultation with Crowd Supply, we have decided to lower our funding goal to $7,000. That way, we we know for certain that we'll have the chance to serve the growing community of makers who are looking forward to working with Chhavi. Which means the campaign has funded, and you will be receiving your Chhavi modules! Read the full update.
We've been listening to the community of backers and other interested parties that has begun to form around Chhavi, and one request has been, by far, the most popular: many of you have asked that we replace Chhavi's USB Micro-B port with a USB Type-C port. That sounds like a great idea to us, so...we're going to do it! Thank you for the feedback, and please keep it coming! Read the full update.
When we first started designing a small, wireless module for universal fingerprinting applications, we did not think to include NFC capability. Our goal was to provide a device with smartphone-level speed, precision, and reliability, as well as capacitive touch support so the ESP32 at its core could be awakened from deep-sleep mode when needed. That gave us a low-power, battery-capable fingerprint module with the ability to communicate over Wi-Fi or BLE. Then came USB support for PCs. Then came NFC. And now here we are! Chhavi is an easy-to-use, all-in-one, ESP32-powered module ready for whatever wireless fingerprinting application you might have in mind. Come check it out! Read the full update.
