12edo (standard tuning) cannot accurately match the harmonics. It is also just one of other edos. Harmonic tuning is much older technology than edos. Ironically, harmonics are hard to access. They can be accessed by playing a single pitch as this is a chord of harmonics. But when playing those harmonics as notes individually, the notes of standard tuning are based on different frequencies that are not harmonics. This effectively means that since instruments tend to be stuck in standard tuning and are not easily adapted from standard tuning, musicians cannot access the very harmonics made from a single tone of any note.

While harmonics should be easy to access and experience, there are many proprietary technologies that seek to give us this access. If we can’t access notes that are millennia old and fundamental to music with FLO software, doesn’t that speak to some major flaws the course of where technology is heading? If these notes are ancient, why should we be turning to locked down technologies to experience them? The instruments in this demo use FLO technology to access ancient notes that have profoundly influenced music and all other discovered tunings including standard tuning, which is just one tuning among many others that cultures have used for many centuries.
