View Purchasing OptionsPreviously, I have published all the source code and fabrication files on GitHub. Today, I am going a step further and publishing the whole design project, so you can modify the design as you wish. Read the full update.
I have been having fun playing with my YMFC Mini-drone. Here are two videos showing a couple of projects I did recently. Read the full update.
The manufacturing progress went smoothly. We made a slight modification to the oscillator, due to a component shortage. YMFC Flight Controller products are on their way to Crowd Supply's warehouse for final distribution. Please check your delivery address in your account order details! Read the full update.
Last week I talked about how to use software defined radio to control the drone. Now, this is the experiment I want to do in the future. Also, this campaign will end soon, in two hours! Your support will help me with putting more effort into this project. Thanks! Read the full update.
By designing the schematic and PCB of ymfc-mini-drone, I've also acquired the knowledge of designing a SDR board, and I have recently designed and tested my own version of RTL-SDR. As an SDR hobbyist, designing my own board and firmware is much more satisfying than playing with existing software in user space. By sharing this project, I hope more SDR hobbyists will benefit from it. Check out the video in this update for more information. Read the full update.
In this update I talk about how to use the board as a flight controller to control brushless motors and install it on an F450 frame and give you a walk through in a video tutorial. Read the full update.
In this update I do a lot of soldering work, to show you how assembly is done. The video is split into 2 parts. Part I is about the assembling that will be done before shipment, so backers won't have to do that part unless they want to. Part II will need to be done by backers, because motors aren't included in the package, and there is no way to solder them beforehand. Read the full update.
In this update I demonstrate how I modified the original flight controller and testing firmware from Joop Brooking, and shrank their sizes. Also, I explain how to adapt the code for flying the board as a mini-drone. The code and schematics in this video are available on the GitHub repository for this project. Read the full update.
In this video I explain the history and context of the YMFC Flight Controller and Mini Drone, and the problems it solves. I also talk about what I changed and didn't change, and why. Finally, I do a thorough walkthrough of the schematic of the board, to help you better understand it. Read the full update.
YMFC Flight Controller and Mini Drone boards are now available to purchase through the crowdfunding campaign! The board is simple, affordable, Arduino-programmable, open source and can be used as a mini drone unto itself or as a flight controller for a larger (F450 size) drone. Read the full update.
