We have two new demos to share featuring the LimeSDR Mini being used with SDRangel, both courtesy of Marty Wittrock, a veteran user of the larger 2x2 MIMO LimeSDR board and a keen advocate for amateur radio use. In the first video, Marty pairs the LimeSDR Mini with an UDOO x86 SBC running Ubuntu, using this together with SDRangel for a 2M band FM transmitter.
In support of his quest to create a suitably compact transceiver solution for portable use, Marty has set himself the task of porting SDRangel to Android. As an initial proof of concept he has succeeded in building and installing this via a Linux chroot on an LG G3 handset. In the video below we can see SDRangel running and tuned to 162.475 MHz with NBFM demod. There’s no audio output just yet, but resolving this is next on his to-do list.
We have to admit that we’d really love to see a full Android port of SDRangel and we’ll be following project progress with keen interest. Thanks for sharing, Marty!
