New Firmware and GUI
New Firmware and IQ Control Center Release
We hope everyone had a great 4th of July! IQ’s new firmware and user interface release addresses several bugs and improves user experience. You can find everything you’ll need at iq-control.com/support.
IQ Control Center
IQ is launching its first major release for the IQ Control Center. This release is available for Mac OS and Windows. This release comes with an online autoupdater. So, from now on, you will not have to redownload the IQ Control Center every time we release a new firmware or app update. Just check for updates in the "Help" tab and follow the instructions!
Here are the instructions for how to set up the new user interface:
- Before installing this release, please uninstall any previous release on your computer. To do this, go to the location where you installed the app (probably the
Program
files folder on Windows and the Application
folder on Mac OS) and delete any file/folder related to the IQ Control Center.
- Go to the Control Center page (under the Support tab) on IQ’s website and click the link to the Windows & Mac latest release. This will direct you to GitHub.
- Select the appropriate .zip file and download the new installer
- Follow the installation instructions
IQ Firmware Updates
IQ’s firmware addresses several bugs, including improved hobby communication parsing!
Speed Firmware
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed negative full throttle being interpreted as zero speed when in Flight Controller 3D mode
- New input parser for DShot, MultiShot, OneShot, PWM. Rates tested up to 32 kHz and DShot up to 1200 work
New Features:
- Faster commutation for higher efficiency and faster response
- Anticogging permanently disabled (but still in fw) for increased code efficiency. Don’t worry, the anticogging data is still on the motors and different versions of the firmware can still use it.
- Telemetry now reports RPM (unsigned speed) not eRPM/100
- Increased thermal limits so you can push the motors harder. Be more careful when stalling.
Position Firmware, now 2 firmwares: Servo and Step/Direction
New Features:
- Servo input firmware allows any hobby protocol to control the position, velocity, voltage, or PWM of your motor
- Step direction firmware allows you to use your motors as drop in replacements for stepper motors. Common stepper motors drivers use step/direction inputs. Simply remove the stepper motor driver from you 3D printer controller and directly connect your Position Module
- Increased thermal limits so you can push the motors harder. Be more careful when stalling.
What else is new?
We’ve also updated our instruction manual, errata doc, and datasheets. For the most up-to-date information about the modules and firmware, please download the newest versions of these documents from the website. We have also added firmware change logs.
