After the project launched, we got a question about how the speed performance of the USB 3.0 Ethernet on the Pi-Cast KVM compared to other kinds of connections. Is it as fast as regular RJ45 Ethernet? So, we did a speed test benchmark over various connections for your reference.
USB 3.0 Ethernet | RJ45 Ethernet | USB2.0 RNDIS | 5G Wifi | 2.4G WiFi | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
UP Rate | 942 Mbps | 944 Mps | 220 Mbps | 79.7 Mbps | 15.1 Mbps |
Down Rate | 942 Mbps | 943 Mps | 217 Mbps | 78 Mbps | 11.3 Mbps |
The USB 3.0 Ethernet is almost 4x faster than the USB2.0 RNDIS, and 62(2.4 G)/12(5 G) times faster than the CM4 onboard wifi. It’s almost the same speed as directly connecting over regular RJ45 ethernet.
If you have any questions about the project, please feel free to ask us through Ask a Question link on our campaign page.
