In previous updates, you’ve seen the DAQiFi team emphasize our goal of making data acquisition a tool, not a chore. You want data acquisition to help achieve a project outcome, not create a huge part of the project’s work! So in keeping with this goal, what programming tool could be better than Node-RED for Nyquist to work with?

Node-RED is an open-source programming tool that uses a drag-and-drop editor to rapidly create logic sequences and interconnect physical electronic devices, cloud-based apps/systems, databases and most APIs. It requires only minimal programming ability since most of the code is pre-programmed and invoked by placing visual "nodes" in a "flow" or visual sequence in a browser-based workspace. While similar tools exist, they are proprietary and expensive, which is not the model the DAQiFi team is going for!

Therefore, in planning and developing the DAQiFi Nyquist series, our team made sure to include an API compatible with Node-RED. With its ease of use and quick implementation, we envision a world of possibilities Node-RED opens for Nyquist users. From industrial process control to "cobots" to home-automation systems, Node-RED adds simplicity, versatility, and speed to a wide variety of projects.
