Hello everyone! Welcome back to another Tangara update.
Over the past month hundreds of units have been shipped out from Mouser to our campaign backers. It’s been great to see so many images of people’s devices out in the wild, but it has meant that this has been an extremely busy month for us. We’ve had bugs to fix, missing features to implement, hardware issues to remotely debug and fix and a few returns and replacement parts to handle.
Thanks everyone for your support! If you’re waiting on a reply from us then please spare us a little patience; we’re a very small team dealing with a lot of emails at this time.
If you have received your device and need any help with it, then you can email support@cooltech.zone for help, or post on our forum where many other Tangara users can help you out too.
Our first batch of production units has completely shipped. There is not a single Tangara left in Mouser’s warehouse. However, a small number (~50) of backers have not yet received their devices. This is not ideal!
In some cases, this is due to addresses or other order details needing to be corrected. However, in a few dozen cases, there was a glitch in the sequencing of orders due to some new automation that came online at Crowd Supply to speed up fulfillment. As a result, those few dozen unlucky people have not yet received their campaign orders.
We (and Crowd Supply!) apologise profusely for this. We’re working hard to get batch two out the door as soon as possible, which will include enough units to fill all currently outstanding orders. Anyone still waiting for their device should expect theirs to ship in late March.
Our second production batch is ready for assembly. As hoped, we received everything we needed to begin before the CNY slowdown, and so by now we have received and tested all batch 2 production components.
Batch 2 is substantially the same as batch 1. We made a very minor revision to the mainboard PCB to improve PCBA yield and replaced an EOL component. Otherwise this batch should be identical to the first.
As mentioned above, we expect to have assembled enough devices to cover all post-campaign orders by March. After that assembly will slow down, but devices will mostly cover ongoing sales.
That’s all we have for this month. We apologise again to anyone who backed during the campaign but has not yet received their device; we are working on this as fast as we can, whilst also balancing customer support work and firmware bugfixes.
