Good news! Your microBytes are on their way to Crowd Supply's warehouse for final distribution. Please take this time to check your delivery address. In other news, the blue and yellow color is a bit different from the shown on the prototype, they are a little bit "pastel" tone. Read the full update.
PCB assembly is complete, and all microByte boards should be here in Spain by next week! Continuing with the good news, all remaining components (batteries, screws, rubber buttons, etc.) are now in our warehouse awaiting final assembly. This update also includes a status report on our progress toward v1.0 of the microByte firmware. Read the full update.
I have good news! All necessary components have been purchased, and PCBs are in the final stages of the manufacturing process. So, we don't have to worry about shortage problems, which is very good news given the state of the semiconductor industry of late. What remains is: to assemble the components on each PCB, finish the enclosure manufacturing, and receive everything at our warehouse. Read the full update.
We are now in the final days of our crowdfunding campaign, and I just wanted to express my gratitude for all the support. Thanks to you, microByte will soon be a reality! I also wanted to apologize for the lack of updates over the past few weeks. For what it's worth, I've been making good use of my time! Instead of staying in touch (sorry!), I've been adapting microPython to the microByte architecture and porting the amazing Stage library, an open-source sprite engine that makes it easy to create games using MicroPython. This update includes a video demonstration and sample code that show off microByte's use of the Stage library. Read the full update.
This update talks a little about my participation in the Instructables PCB design contest and a lot about the MicroPython features I've been working on. Read the full update.
It's very important to me that I be able to stay in touch with supporters and others who are interested in microByte, so I will be hosting an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session this Wednesday, the 10th of February, at 1 PM Pacific Time on Crowd Supply's Discord channel. Invite link below! Read the full update.
First, I would like to thank everyone who has supported this project. We are over half way to our funding goal, and I very much appreciate the trust you've placed in me. And I can't wait to send you your very own microByte! This post covers the latest firmware update, describes microByte's save-game functionality, and introduces our new website. Read the full update.
MicroByte is a portable, hand-held, retro-gaming console that allows you to play your favorite NES, GameBoy, GameBoy Color, Game Gear, and Sega Master System games. But it's not just for gaming. microByte is fully Arduino compatible, so you can also create your own applications. You can even load them onto a microSD card and launch them without reflashing the device! Read the full update.
