We have received a few questions about the possibility of charging a battery and powering a load at the same time. The Ant2 doesn’t provide any power path management, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not possible to simultaneously charge the battery and power the load.

It’s actually as simple as connecting the battery and load in parallel. If the load consumes less than the pre-set charging current, then the current will be automatically shared with the battery. For example, if the pre-set charging current is 500 mA and the load consumes 130 mA on average then 370 mA will be left to charge the battery. If the load consumes more than 500 mA, then the battery is going to eventually completely discharge.
