The Story Behind the Anavi Miracle Emitter

by ANAVI Technology

Hello, ANAVI supporters!
We are a micro-company specializing in developer-friendly Internet of Things (IoT) devices, Raspberry Pi add-on boards, and open-source mechanical keyboards. Since early 2017, our open source hardware devices have been proudly designed and manufactured locally in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, in the European Union. Each product bears the "Made in Plovdiv" mark and is officially certified by the Open Source Hardware Association.

To support the production of new devices, we conduct modest crowdfunding campaigns aimed at enabling low-volume manufacturing. We partner with Crowd Supply for these initiatives due to their strong commitment to open source values and their outstanding support for creators. Over the years, we have built a reliable supply chain for manufacturing through close cooperation with trusted and proven partners. Our inaugural Crowd Supply campaign was for the ANAVI Infrared pHAT for Raspberry Pi.

Internet of Things (IoT) and home automation have always been central to our mission. In 2018, we introduced the ANAVI Light Controller, designed for 12 V RGB non-addressable LED strips. We subsequently developed a range of additional smart devices, including the ANAVI Thermometer and the ANAVI Gas Detector. All of these devices are fully compatible with the widely adopted open-source platform Home Assistant, utilizing the MQTT protocol for seamless integration.

In 2020, over a hundred backers helped bring the ANAVI Miracle Controller to life. This open-source, ESP8266-powered Wi-Fi development board was designed to control two 5 V or two 12 V NeoPixel LED strips. It continues to be in production and many users still enjoy its functionality. However, to address a broader range of use cases, we decided to design a more compact version with the newer ESP32-C3 and a USB-C connector. This led to the creation of the ANAVI Miracle Emitter. Both boards work with popular NeoPixel LEDs like WS2811, WS2812, WS2812B, and TM1809.

ANAVI Miracle Emitter is our first device featuring a microcontroller based on RISC-V, an open-source instruction set architecture that offers greater flexibility and innovation in hardware design.

Please consider backing our campaign now and help drive the success of this fully open-source project!
