Production Delays for New Batch

by Goran Mahovlić

Hi to all!

It’s been a long time since my last update, and I have some not-so-great news about the new batch of ULX3S boards. As you may have heard, supply chains are not in good shape right now. We did managed to get all of the components for a new batch…except for the Lattice 85F FPGA. Our most recent news about that suggests that more will be available in four to six weeks. After that, we’ll need some time to produce and ship the boards, so we’ve pushed our shipping estimate back to June 1st.

But we also have some good news!

We’ve started work on a modular FPGA board, and nlnet decided to help us to do it better and faster. Working on an FPGA version of the EEZ BB3 main board showed us that some projects would benefit if we had a fully open source module for use in other products. We are thinking about putting just the FPGA, the memory, some flash, and a power supply on a small modular board and moving the rest to a carrier board. At some stage, we would also like to move on to other FPGA vendors, and add fast peripherals to the carrier board. We’ve also decided to work more on our Blender skills.

I will post more details once we begin working on the modular board. Meanwhile, stay tuned, and thanks for your support!

Goran
